Carpet Weaving

Carpet weaving is one of Afghanistan's most celebrated living traditions, passed through generations and deeply tied to community identity. At JVTC, women trainees complete a six-month program combining loom practice, finishing techniques, and design literacy while helping preserve authentic Afghan motifs and strengthen pathways to income.

Tile Making

Afghanistan's ceramic and tile traditions were shaped by centuries of craftsmanship and architectural innovation. JVTC's six-month tile-making course trains participants in forming, firing, surface finishing, glazing, and traditional color preparation for heritage work, conservation needs, and skilled employment.

Carpentry

Woodworking remains one of the most in-demand trades in Afghanistan, supporting both household needs and commercial production. JVTC's six-month carpentry training builds hands-on workshop skills, safe tool use, joinery basics, and production discipline while balancing traditional methods with modern practice.

Wood Carving

Nuristani wood carving is a distinctive tradition with deep historical roots, symbolic forms, and refined craftsmanship. Over six months at JVTC, trainees progress from basic patterns to applied carving for furniture elements, panels, doors, and decorative features while preserving a rare craft and building employable skills.

Wooden Screen Making (Jali Work)

Wooden screen work, or jali, has a long history across the Islamic world and became widely used in Afghanistan during the Seljuk and Timurid periods. JVTC trains apprentices in six-month cycles focused on pattern layout, fabrication, and assembly for restoration work, interior screens, partitions, and heritage-inspired details.

Tailoring

Tailoring is both a livelihood skill and a cultural craft that reflects local identity through form, detailing, and textiles. JVTC's six-month tailoring program gives women trainees practical garment-making skills, cutting and stitching techniques, and production workflow for home-based work, apprenticeships, and small business pathways.

Embroidery

Embroidery is one of Afghanistan's most recognized traditional crafts, used in clothing and household textiles across many regions. JVTC offers a structured six-month program covering core stitches, pattern transfer, finishing, and applied product work to support both preservation and practical income generation.

Tinsmithing (Metal Sheet Work)

Metal sheet work remains a practical trade tied to everyday needs, producing items like stoves, ducts, containers, and household tools. JVTC's six-month tinsmithing course develops hands-on skills in measuring, cutting, forming, joining, and finishing with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and production readiness.

Electrical Work

Electrical installation is a high-demand skill essential to safe buildings and basic services. Over six months, JVTC trainees learn wiring systems, lighting and socket layout, protection devices, load calculations, single- and three-phase basics, installation planning, and commonly used local systems including solar and backup power changeover setups.
